VILLAGE PICNIC 2017
Saturday 29th July 2017 was a very special day for the village. Earlier in the year the chairman Andy Hop-kins suggested the time was right to bring all the village activities and organisations for a grand get-together. This would be held in the playing field and be an afternoon and evening event for all the family.
From there on societies and anyone who had dealings or connections with Moggerhanger was approached. The event would be free entry to but profits from food, bar and donations from stall holders would be used towards buying the village a defibrillator.
The Friday 28th was use to set up some 20 gazebos/marquees around the top edge of the field.
The lower end of the field was earmarked for the Ivel Model Club to dis-play and fly some of their craft throughout the afternoon. Local music groups, The Adhoc Swing Band and friends of Home Brew folk band would be playing throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Alison Cross single handed spent the afternoon face-painting children and the garden club displayed garden pro-duce. Guided tours of the church and the church shop were open until 5:00 pm.
Popular cream teas were served during the afternoon from Maxine and Brian Hopton’s back garden. Deena from The Guinea pro-vided splendid and much enjoyed Hot Dogs and Burgers. Carolyn and Tim Lister and friends made a splendid job in running the bar for the duration. In spite of last minute inclement weather the evening rounded off with two invited bands which were well received.
