Folk Nights

FOLK NIGHTS at the VILLAGE HALL

As a milestone for the second Village Hall Social event, March 6th 2013 gave us our first Folk Evening.  No fewer than 9 performers came wielding a variety of instruments ranging from Breton medieval pipes, Jingle sticks to the more familiar guitars and accordions.  The evening was run on the lines of a typical session with audience and players participating freely.  Several artistes titillated the audience with their very amusing musical monologues.  Almost a full barrel of  Traditional Ale from Potton Brewery was consumed together with the more familiar wines & spirits.

Those performing were: Anna Ardley (medieval pipes & whistles); Barry Goodman (accordion, melodeon and comedy); Roy Hollowell (harmonica, percussion and comedy vocals); Clive Tierney (accordion); Liz Schofield (vocal & euphonium); Ian Woiwod (double bass & vocal); Chris Bashford (12-string guitar & vocal); Carolyn Adams (fiddle); and Steve Swallow (guitar & vocal).  All musicians have had many years’ experience with various bands, dance ceilidhs, and concerts throughout the UK.

There were many familiar faces from the Village letting their hair down and aeverything proved so popular that it has become a regular monthly event. Please email  Chris for more details.
